PRTC Offers Low Income Programs:
Progressive Rural Telephone offers two programs to assist qualifying, low income individuals with the monthly charges for their telephone service. Lifeline and Link-Up programs are part of the Federal Universal Service Fund program implemented by the FCC.
Lifeline offers a qualifying individual a $6.75 monthly discount to the individual’s telephone service. Only one telephone line per household is eligible.
Link-Up allows qualified individuals a one-time credit for one-half of installation of new phone service.
To receive these discounts, an individual must be a participant in one the following programs:
- Medicaid
- Food Stamps
- Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
- Federal Public Housing Assistance or
- Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program
Other terms and conditions apply. To receive Lifeline, the phone line must not have any calling features such as Call Waiting or Caller ID. We encourage you to contact us if you believe you qualify for these programs. Please call 984-4201 or visit the Business Office. |
