Are you sick of receiving calls from telemarketers?
Registering your phone number on the National Do Not Call List may significantly reduce the number of unwanted solicitations you receive. You may do so by:
Calling toll-free 1-888-382-1222 (call from the number you want to register)
TTY users call 1-866-290-4236
Register online at www.donotcall.gov
Your number will remain on the list for five years, free of charge. If you are registered for at least 90 days and receive a call from a telemarketer, you can file a federal complaint with the FTC by calling the above number or going online. You will have to know the company’s name or phone number.
Being on the Do Not Call List will not prevent you from receiving calls from:
1 – Businesses that you have done business with in the last 18 months, unless you tell them not to call you.
2 – Recognized charitable or religious organizations; or
3 – Political pollsters or candidates for public office.
Should you change your phone number, you will have to register the new number.
